Upholstery fabric decides how long a sofa keeps its looks and how comfortable a chair feels. SoftDecor stocks 150+ fabrics — velvets, bouclés, chenilles and linen blends. Each fabric lists its composition, Martindale abrasion rating and care instructions, so you can match the material precisely to how the piece will be used.
From velvet to classics, you'll find the right tone and texture for a sofa, armchair or headboard. Our team can advise at the Viimsi showroom if needed.

The first question is where the piece will live. For a sofa in daily use, choose a fabric rated at least 25,000 Martindale cycles; for a family living room we recommend 40,000 and above. An accent chair or decorative cushion used less often can take a lower rating.
Velvet gives a deep, luxurious look and is surprisingly hard-wearing. Bouclé is one of 2026's most-requested textures — a soft, looped surface that suits Scandinavian interiors. Chenille is dense and warm, ideal for large sofas. Linen blends breathe well and fit natural interiors.
Most of our fabrics are easy to live with — weekly vacuuming and prompt stain removal keep them looking good for years. Light-fastness and pilling resistance are noted on every product.
Martindale measures a fabric's abrasion resistance. The higher the number, the more hard-wearing the fabric. For a daily-use sofa we recommend at least 25,000 cycles.
Dense fabrics like chenille and tight velvet hold up best. Avoid loosely woven fabrics that claws can catch on.
