Barium FR Flame-Retardant Upholstery Fabric
Barium FR is a UK-spec FR Uni with a soft brushed chenille-like hand — 100% polyester woven and finished with a fine, slightly velvety surface that reads warmer and more hospitality-friendly than a flat polyester Uni. The certification stack is full UK-spec: EN 1021, IMO Part 8, C&M and BS 5852 CRIB 5 — opening Barium FR up to UK contract specifications with British compliance. The 32-colour palette is unusually broad for an FR Uni at this price — useful when a project needs a single fabric to span lobby, restaurant, meeting rooms and bedrooms. 76 €/m.
Description
Barium FR sits in the same UK-spec FR Uni family as Beryl FR, Nickel FR and Lazuli FR — all certified to EN 1021, IMO Part 8, C&M and BS 5852 CRIB 5 — but Barium FR’s differentiator is the breadth of the palette: 32 colours, edited as a single coherent set, which is unusually wide for this price point in the FR category. The brushed chenille-like surface is soft and quietly residential, with the visual depth that brushed cloths bring without committing to a full velvet pile.
100% polyester with inherent flame retardancy. 366 g/m² on 140 cm is mid-light — easier to upholster on shaped frames than heavier cloths. 40,000 Martindale rubs (Class SC), pilling 4-5, rub fastness 4-5, light fastness 4. The wide palette and soft hand make Barium FR a useful default specification across multi-room hospitality schemes, where consistency of fabric across different piece types matters as much as individual fabric choice.
