Mace FR Flame-Retardant Velvet-Look Upholstery Fabric
Mace FR is the largest-palette FR Uni in the Kobe range — 100% polyester with inherent flame retardancy built into the yarn, available in 50 colours at 59 €/m. The Uni weave has a dense, plush velvet-like surface — slightly softer and more residential than a chenille-finished FR. Mace FR is positioned as a residential-grade FR cloth: the inherent flame retardancy is real (built into the polyester yarn), but Kobe does not publish independent fire-test certificates (EN 1021, IMO Part 8, C&M) for this fabric, so it is not certified for contract hospitality specifications. Description
Mace FR is a sibling of Mint FR and Sage FR — same residential-grade inherent-FR construction (100% polyester with FR built into the yarn) and same value pricing — but Mace FR’s 50-colour palette is the widest in the FR category of Kobe’s entire upholstery range. That breadth makes Mace FR the natural default specification for residential schemes where colour matching across multiple piece types matters: matching armchairs, ottomans, headboards, bench seats and accent cushions to a single base cloth is straightforward when the palette covers 50 tones across cool whites, warm naturals, deep accents and saturated colours.
The 100% polyester construction carries inherent flame retardancy — it is engineered into the yarn at spinning, so it does not wash out or wear off. But Kobe does not publish independent fire-test certificates against named standards (EN 1021, IMO Part 8, C&M, BS 5852 CRIB 5) for Mace FR, so the cloth is positioned as a residential / value-grade FR — appropriate for homes where you want fire-resistant upholstery for peace of mind, but not for tendered hospitality contracts that require certified compliance.
