Cocoon Reversible Polyester Upholstery Fabric
Cocoon is the value-priced workhorse of the Kobe Uni range — 100% polyester with a smooth Uni weave and a soft, slightly drapy hand. Two technical numbers make Cocoon unusual at the 46 €/m price point: 100,000 Martindale rubs at Class SC (twice the threshold for severe contract use) and a wide 36-colour palette. The cloth is reversible — both faces present cleanly, useful for slip-covers and bedheads where both sides may be visible. 335 g/m² on 140 cm — light enough to drape easily, structured enough for upholstery. Not flame-retardant.
Description
Cocoon rebalances the price-to-spec equation at the value end of the Kobe Uni range. The standard expectation in entry-priced polyester Uni cloths is 20,000-40,000 Martindale rubs, 12-18 colours and a flat-faced single-sided weave. Cocoon offers 100,000 Martindale rubs at Class SC — severe contract abrasion — and a 36-colour palette at 46 €/m. The reversibility is a useful bonus: both faces of the cloth are usable, which simplifies cutting, reduces waste, and makes Cocoon practical for slip-covers, bedheads, and tailored cushions where both sides may be visible at some angles.
The cloth itself is light at 335 g/m² and drapes easily — appropriate for slip-covers, lighter upholstery, decorative cushions and bedheads, less so for densely-stuffed contract sofas where a heavier cloth holds shape better. 100% polyester, light fastness 4, pilling 4, rub fastness 4. Not flame-retardant — for FR specifications, see the Calace FR / Borax FR family.
