Osmium FR Flame-Retardant Boucle Upholstery Fabric
Osmium FR is the rare wool-feel FR Uni — a Uni with heavy boucle / chenille structure built from 71% polyacrylic, 27% polyester and 2% cotton. The acrylic content carries the dry, woollen handle; the polyester is the FR carrier and the structural reinforcement; the 2% cotton lifts the surface with a soft, natural-fibre touch. The result is a fabric that reads as wool but tests as FR — and a full UK-spec certification stack (EN 1021, IMO Part 8, C&M, plus BS 5852 CRIB 5) makes it specifiable on hospitality contracts where pure-wool fabrics would not pass. 23 colours edited as a coherent natural-tone hospitality palette, 105 €/m.
Description
Osmium FR answers a real problem in hospitality FR: we love the wool look, but pure wool will not pass our UK fire spec. Pure wool burns slowly enough on its own but fails BS 5852 CRIB 5 reliably. Osmium FR delivers the wool-feel character — the dry handle, the textured boucle / chenille surface, the warm natural palette — through a 71% polyacrylic / 27% polyester / 2% cotton blend that does pass the full British contract fire stack.
The polyacrylic is the visual and tactile workhorse: acrylic spins into a yarn that feels close to wool and dyes into the same warm, dry, natural-tone palette. The polyester provides the inherent flame retardancy and the abrasion / dimensional stability. The 2% cotton is small but matters: it softens the surface and gives the boucle loops a more organic look than pure synthetic loops manage. Certifications: EN 1021-1/2, IMO Part 8, C&M, BS 5852 CRIB 5. 23 colours edited as a coherent palette.
