Mint FR is a soft, velvet-look upholstery fabric in 100% polyester with inherent flame retardancy built into the yarn. The surface has a quiet, low-sheen lustre — closer to a brushed cotton or fine velvet than to a flat-weave Uni. The palette is built around muted mint, sage and warm naturals, with 19 colours edited as a coherent residential range. Mint FR is positioned as a residential-grade FR cloth — the inherent flame retardancy is part of the construction, but Kobe does not publish independent fire-test certificates (EN 1021, IMO Part 8, C&M) for this fabric, so it is not suitable for contract specifications that require certified compliance. Description

Mint FR sits in an interesting position: an inherently flame-retardant polyester upholstery cloth, but specified without the third-party fire-test certifications (EN 1021, IMO Part 8, C&M) that hospitality and contract projects usually require. The flame retardancy itself is real — it is built into the polyester yarn by the spinner, so it does not wash out or wear off — but without an independent test certificate against a named standard, Mint FR is positioned as residential-grade rather than contract-grade.

In practical terms: Mint FR is the right choice for homes where you want fire-resistant upholstery for peace of mind (sofas in family rooms, bedheads, chairs near hearths) but where you do not need to satisfy a public-sector compliance brief. The cloth itself is soft, with a velvet-look surface that catches light gently, in a 19-colour palette dominated by muted mint, sage and warm naturals. For projects that need EN 1021 or IMO Part 8 certified FR, look at the Calace FR / Alberti FR / Borax FR family instead.
