Cruise FR Patterned Flame-Retardant Upholstery Fabric
Cruise FR is a patterned heavy-duty flame-retardant fabric — 100% polyester woven as a Dessin with a small 6 × 5.5 cm chenille-look pattern that gives the surface body and tactile depth. The technical numbers put it at the top of contract grade: 100,000 Martindale rubs (Class SC) — twice the threshold for severe contract use — paired with pilling 4-5 and rub fastness 4-5. The certification stack is unusually wide: EN 1021-1/2, IMO Part 8, C&M, plus the British BS 5867 Part 2 Type B (drape contract fire) and BS 7175 (bedding contract fire) — opening Cruise FR up to UK hospitality and healthcare specs that go beyond standard sofa upholstery. 12 colours, 600 g/m², 140 cm.
Description
Cruise FR covers a slightly different brief than most FR cloths in this collection. Most FR upholstery fabrics carry EN 1021 (the European cigarette & match seating test) and add IMO Part 8 / C&M / sometimes CRIB 5. Cruise FR adds two British standards that are usually associated with other textiles: BS 5867 Part 2 Type B (contract fire performance for drapes and curtains) and BS 7175 (contract fire performance for bedding). The practical upside: in projects where a single fabric needs to work on a sofa, a curtain run and a bedhead — a hotel suite, a healthcare ward, a serviced apartment — Cruise FR can carry the whole specification through compliance without splitting into three different cloths.
The technical sheet is heavy-contract. 100,000 Martindale rubs (Class SC) is twice the threshold for severe contract use. Pilling 4-5, dry/wet rub fastness 4-5, light fastness 5. 600 g/m² on a 140 cm bolt is substantial enough to feel like a serious fabric. The 6 × 5.5 cm Dessin pattern is small — visually it sits closer to a textured chenille than a “patterned” cloth, which means it works as a quiet background across multiple piece types in a single scheme. 12 colours edited as a coherent contract palette.
