Calace FR Flame-Retardant Upholstery Fabric
Calace FR is a contract-grade, inherently flame-retardant upholstery fabric woven from 100% polyester. The Dessin weave creates a fine, evenly spaced texture (4.5 × 3.5 cm pattern) that adds tactile interest to sofas, lounge chairs, hospitality seating and contract furniture — without competing with the rest of the interior. With 50,000 Martindale rubs (Class SC), light fastness 5-6 and a stack of certificates — EN 1021, IMO Part 8, C&M and BS 5852 CRIB 5 — Calace FR is ready for the hotel, restaurant and public-space projects where UK-grade fire safety is required. Available in 8 calm, well-judged colours.
Description
Calace FR is built for projects where fire safety is not negotiable. The flame retardancy is inherent — engineered into the polyester yarn itself — so it does not wash out, fade or wear off. On top of the standard European set (EN 1021-1/2 cigarette & match, IMO Part 8 for marine, C&M), Calace FR also passes the British BS 5852 CRIB 5 test — the severe contract benchmark that public buildings, hotels and government interiors in the UK and many international projects require.
The Dessin weave is the other half of the story. Where a plain Uni fabric reads flat, Calace FR has a small, regular textural pattern (4.5 cm by 3.5 cm repeat) that catches light gently and hides everyday marks. At 460 g/m² (644 g/lm) on a 140 cm bolt it is a mid-weight cloth — soft enough to upholster tailored sofas and shaped chairs, structured enough for ottomans and headboards. Pilling 4, dry and wet rub fastness 4, light fastness 5-6 and 50,000 Martindale rubs class SC place it comfortably above the threshold for severe domestic and general contract use.
