Basoo is a decorative, high-character upholstery fabric — a Dessin jacquard with a refined leopard-style animal print, woven from 70% polyester and 30% viscose. The viscose lifts the surface with a soft, low-sheen lustre, while the polyester base brings the durability needed for everyday seating. At 640 g/m² it is a substantial cloth (a real piece of textile, not a flimsy decorative novelty), with 50,000 Martindale rubs (Class SC) and excellent light fastness 6 — built to keep its colour and finish for years. Description
Basoo sits on the decorative side of Kobe’s catalogue — a fabric you reach for when you want one piece of furniture (or one wall of cushions) to do the heavy lifting in the room. The pattern is a leopard-inspired Dessin: not a literal print, but a jacquard-woven structure where the spots are part of the cloth itself. Light catches the viscose passes and gives the surface a quiet, low-sheen lustre that photographs beautifully and reads as refined rather than loud.
Technically it punches well above what a “pattern fabric” usually delivers. 640 g/m² is dense and reassuring under the hand. 50,000 Martindale rubs (Class SC) and pilling 4-5 put it comfortably in severe domestic and general contract territory — it will not surrender after a winter of weekend dinners. Dry and wet rub fastness 4-5, light fastness 6 and shrinkage of just 0.5% mean it stays itself: the colour holds, the finish holds, the dimension holds.
