Akila FR Flame-Retardant Upholstery Fabric
Akila FR is a contract-grade, inherently flame-retardant upholstery fabric woven from 100% polyester. The plain Uni weave delivers a calm, refined surface that suits sofas, lounge chairs, dining seating and public-space furniture alike. With 40,000 Martindale rubs (Class SC), light fastness 5 and EN 1021 / IMO Part 8 / C&M certifications, Akila FR is built for projects where safety and durability are non-negotiable. Available in 25 colours from sand and graphite to teal and forest green.
Description
Inherent flame retardancy is built into every yarn of Akila FR — the protection cannot wash out, fade or wear off. That makes it a default choice for hotels, restaurants, offices, healthcare interiors and homes with small children, where compliance with EN 1021-1/2 (cigarette & match), IMO Part 8 (marine) and C&M standards is required.
Technically the fabric weighs 505 g/m² (707 g/lm) on a generous 140 cm width, with pilling 5, dry/wet rub fastness 4-5 and 40 000 Martindale rubs at Class SC — comfortably above the threshold for severe domestic and general contract use. The Uni weave is mid-weight, matte and slightly textured: it sits well on tailored upholstery as well as relaxed slip-covers.
